Context

The Institute of Eye Surgery (IoES) is Ireland’s only surgical eye-care centre of excellence. Their core audiences comprise patients, medical referrers and potential recruits.

The Task

IoES had outgrown their old identity and engaged us as their strategic partner to help them position their brand for growth in Ireland and the UK. The project scope included enhancing every single touchpoint of the customer journey.

Our Approach

At our initial workshops we listened to key stakeholders, management and staff, and met with patients alike. Reflecting the attention to detail IoES pay to their patients’ care, we spent time observing every aspect of their experience from parking their car to final discharge. We also reviewed all written correspondence sent to patients and their consultants.

 
 
 

Outputs that create Impact – The Result

We created a strong brand identity that positions IoES clearly, for its three disparate audiences, as a trustworthy and innovative partner in the field of Ophthalmology.

Featuring the eye at its centre, the strength of our new logo lies in its simplicity. Its overlapping design structure was then developed into a stand-alone device which encapsulates the core attributes of the brand: a sense of handholding, of coming together and trust where the patient is completely minded throughout the process of their care.

We carefully selected a set of colour combinations to bring a playfulness and energy to the brand. The overall colour palette conveys an organisation that is forward thinking, cutting edge and contemporary yet also friendly, welcoming and reassuring.

This was a comprehensive project whereby we set the tone for the total patient experience. The new brand identity enhanced and brought cohesion across each of the touchpoints of the customer journey, from rewriting all patient correspondence, to establishing a straight forward way-finding system to providing a reassuring environment for patients at the clinic.

We also redesigned their website, corporate stationery and event materials, and provided a brand book to ensure consistency for future application.
