Following a brand refresh that we carried out to reflect Mater Private’s strategic expansion into a national network of hospitals and clinics, we were invited to project manage the redesign and redevelopment of their extensive new patient-focused website.
Background
Since its foundation in 1986, sustained investment over the years has seen Mater Private Network grow from a single flagship hospital in Dublin to two acute hospitals (Dublin and Cork), two Day Hospitals in North and South Dublin, two specialist Radiotherapy Centres in Limerick and Liverpool (UK), and a number of regional out-patient clinics. Mater Private Network has a well-earned reputation for medical innovation and the provision of high acuity care, and is a national leader for heart, spine and cancer specialties in particular.
The Challenge
Mater Private Network’s existing website was no longer fit for purpose. Having expanded organically over the years, it did not cater for the needs of its core audiences: patients, GPs and referrers. The old website had over 2000 pages of content which required auditing prior to their new website being developed. Furthermore, Mater Private had rebranded as Mater Private Network and the new branding we developed for them was not reflected in the existing website.
Our Role
InsideOut was asked to project manage the process for the new website. This first scoping phase was vital to ensure that all stakeholders were aligned and that the design and functional specs for the new site were clearly defined. We assisted MPN’s project team in the delivery of the website and were responsible for its content management.
Outputs that create Impact – The Result
The website was delivered with all agreed goals, on time and on budget. The enhanced functionality, customer-focused structure, such as the clear entry points on the homepage, and consistent content layout have supported increased traffic levels to key areas of the site, such as consultant and service pages, FAQs, payment facilities, the appointment booking form and the MyMaterPrivate app – both improving operational efficiencies and enhancing the customer experience. At the same time, the contemporary and patient friendly design reflect the new branding and reinforce Mater Private Network’s position as the leading patient-centred private hospital network in Ireland.
