Work in Wind by Wind Energy Ireland

Website Design | UI/UX

Brief

With the growth in the Irish economy, and the rapid growth in demand for skilled resources, Wind Energy Ireland (WEI) commissioned InsideOut on behalf of its members

  • to showcase the variety of jobs available in the Wind Energy sector and

  • to interest students in the sector by providing personal stories from people already working in it, along with information on the range of routes into the sector.

Challenges

All industry sectors are competing for skilled resources

  • young people are bombarded with content and have short attention spans

  • the target market audience ranged from 16 year old TY students through to recent grads.

Solution

Go digital – after an initial workshop, we recommended reaching the target audience where they are online:

  • We proposed the development of an interactive website to appeal to young people.

  • We created the #pictureyourselfinwind hashtag showing how the initiative could be promoted via social media post-launch.

  • We developed two ‘game’ style entry points to appeal to the broad 16-19, and 20-22 year old age cohorts.

‘If you’re into…’ – whack-a-mole entry point

Take the quiz entry point

Services supplied

  • Brand identity (look and feel, tagline)

  • UI/UX design

  • Content management

  • Website design and development

  • Marketing strategy consulting

  • Social media consulting

Results

Since its launch at the Wind Energy Trade Show in October 2023, it has achieved extensive media coverage with over 95,000 visits from users across Ireland and further afield.

The WorkinWind website was the first of its kind in Ireland, and has been used as a reference site by other organisations seeking to do something similar within their industry sector.

We worked with Inside Out on our new education platform, www.workinwind.ie. The addition of a quiz [entry-point] was one of the interactive elements Tanja and the team helped us to deliver. They brought our case studies to life, telling the stories of real people working in the industry today, and we are excited to use the finished product.
